The annual golf outing for ASA Chicago teed off at 9:00 a.m. , Friday, June 30th, in a shotgun start at a brand new venue. The new location might be our home for some time to come judging from the great reviews and the turn-out. Not only were the comments and feedback received very positive, but the number of ASA Chicago golfers who teed off with us was also a positive bump.

The date, the event, the location all combined for an 11% jump in the number of golfers that participated. The new venue, Cog Hill Golf Club in Lemont, IL has been host to some big tournaments and has a long history with Chicago golfers. The courses, the new location, the weather and our great members all combined to make a fabulous outing.

For the first year, premium golf slots were offered on Dubs Dread - the PGA-level golf course, which has hosted both the Western Open and BMW Championships. This challenging course and great opportunity gave a limited number of golfers the chance to golf and take clients and co-workers out on the big links.

Our luncheon afterwards featured some sizzling steaks and really fun prizes. Slipped in between lunch and the prize drawing - ASA Chicago members had a chance to entertain, mingle and socialize under the big event tent. Like PGA golfers on Sunday, the members were busy working the big tent during one of our biggest social events of the year.

By all accounts, the new venue and great weather made a big splash. Speaking of water, while there was plenty surrounding the fairways and greens, none of the water came down on the outing. The front which threatened us all week, moved to the South of us and wasn’t heard from until the final carts made it in off the course. The weather was pretty solid - except for a couple low-lying holes that had a humid dome over their tees.

You can view some group shots and pictures of the golf outing on our Flickr Page.

Corporate Sponsors for the 46th Annual ASA Chicago Golf Outing were: Barton Marlow, Anthony Roofing - A Tecta America Company, H D Supply Construction & Industrial White Cap, W.E. O’Neil, Sharlen Electric Co., Specialty Construction & Power Construction.

Sponsors played a big role in helping us to create a great golf event. Thank you very much for your sponsorship at ASA Chicago’s 46th Annual Golf Outing.  By all indications, it was the most successful one yet.  Without sponsor support, ASA Chicago could not have achieved this success. ASA Chicago’s Golf Committee, Office Team, and Board of Directors, wishes to thank everyone who sponsored our event and to show their appreciation for your ongoing support.

The golfers who had an especially great day on Dubs Dread - Course 4, took home top honors shooting a sizzling 56! Tim Hanifin, Dave Wing, Brett Walsh and Tim Glenn smoked Dubs Dread during this scramble team event. On Course 1, it was the foursome of Jim Newton, Vic Daughter and their two guests who shot a sizzling 55 to take home top honors. And over on course 3, Randy Ellis, Kirk Liskiewitz, Chris Van Tassel and Ed Hrunek teamed up to take low score of the day with a 54. That is some sharp shooting.

The big winners of the day earned cash prizes and most every winning member donated their cash prizes and course game prizes (longest drive, closet the pin) to Team Make a Difference to help out the Baker family in their time of need. Instead of taking their awards, our membership donated $525 in prizes. Thank you to everyone who was so generous to pass your prize on to make one huge winner-helping out.

Sponsor opportunities were offered for this event and included the ability to host a game on a tee, set up a premium table to greet golfers and many signage opportunities around the course. ASA Chicago Members were seen on the beverage carts, near the practice greens, on the tees around the course and even in the pavilion tent. If your company is interested, start planning an activity where you can host at a tee. You have the capability to demonstrate equipment, network with subcontractors, general contractors and vendors on the course. You could create a fun game on a tee (there were a couple of fun games and contests out there that were a big hit). Sponsors who hosted
